Uma holds a Masters in Philosophy in Biochemistry and a Masters degree in Biochemistry from University of Madras, India. She is a registered Indian Patent Agent.

Before joining pmc, she had worked both in private practice and as an in-house patent agent in a biotech and an agrochemical company in Mumbai, India. She has been involved in patent drafting and prosecution of biochemical, pharmaceutical, agrochemical and biotechnology related inventions. She has also been involved in patent opposition, patent revocation and infringement proceedings in India.

Uma has a passion for Indian classical dance, Bharathanatyam and is also a trained Indian classical dancer. She also enjoys swimming and playing table tennis in her free time.
