Thailand Introduces “Trademark Fast Track 4 Months Plus+” Program for E-Commerce Entrepreneurs

The Thai Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has introduced a new trademark examination program called “Trademark Fast Track 4 Months Plus+”, effective from 1 January 2026. This program is designed to support e-commerce entrepreneurs who require faster trademark examination and registration process in order to use their marks promptly for online business operations.

Under the Fast Track 4 Months Plus+ Program, applicants will receive the first examination result within four months from the filing date, provided that all eligibility requirements and conditions are fully satisfied.

Objective of the Program

The program aims to facilitate trademark registration for businesses operating on online sales platforms, where timely brand use and protection are commercially important. It reflects DIP’s policy to support the growth of digital commerce and modern business models in Thailand.

The Fast Track 4 Months Plus+ Program is available under the following criteria:

  1. The applicant may be an individual or a juristic person engaged in e-commerce through online platforms.
  2. The program applies to trade marks and service marks only and does not include certification marks or collective marks.
  3. Eligible types of marks include images, drawings, figurative elements, logos, names, words, text, and numeral marks. Three-dimensional (shape) marks and sound marks are excluded.
  4. The applicant must demonstrate a necessity for urgent use of the trademark in connection with its e-commerce business.

Conditions for Filing Under the Fast-Track Program

Trademark applications filed under this program must comply with all of the following conditions:

  1. The application must be submitted via the DIP e-filing system, together with a statement of reasons and supporting evidence demonstrating the need for expedited examination, such as an online business or marketing plan.
  2. Each application may cover only one class, and the list of goods or services must not exceed 10 items.
  3. The specification of goods or services must strictly follow the DIP’s recommended list.
  4. All required formality documents must be complete at the time of filing. No extensions of time for subsequent submission of documents are permitted.
  5. No amendments that may delay the examination are permitted. This includes, without limitation, amendments to the specification of goods or services, recordal of assignment, recordal of inheritance of rights in a pending application, or requests to submit additional evidence to prove acquired distinctiveness. If any such amendment or request is filed, the application will be removed from the Fast Track Program and examined under the normal examination procedure.
  6. The applicant must conduct a pre-clearance search and submit the search results for the Registrar’s consideration.
  7. Applications filed through the Madrid Protocol are not eligible for this program.
