Originally from Johor Bahru, Yogabaanu Ulaganathan pursued her bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus. She then pursued her dreams to be in the research field by joining the National Antarctic Research Centre, University of Malaya as a research assistant. Following this, she undertook her Master’s by research in Biotechnology in Antarctic and Antarctic Mycology field.
During her research years, Yogabaanu was selected to join two expeditions to the Antarctic as a group of Researchers. She has researched on effects of latitudinal gradients on fungal biodiversity in the Antarctic region.
She then pursued a career in the Intellectual Property field with a local IP agent before joining Mirandah Asia. At Mirandah Asia, Yogabaanu works on patent drafting and handles patent prosecution matters in medical devices, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences.
Yogabaanu is an aviation enthusiast who has flown Boeing 747 aircraft in flight simulators and has co-piloted a twin otter once in real life. She hopes to obtain a private pilot licence in the near future.
