Thailand – Updates to Trademark E-Filing System

The Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has rolled out changes to its Trademark E-Filing System, as of 29 September 2025. These updates address common filing issues, enhance system integration, and strengthen user authentication.

  1. Trademark Image Uploads

To prevent errors in official forms, the system will no longer accept trademark images uploaded with transparent backgrounds and white overlays (commonly in PNG format).

  • Problem before: Such images often appeared blank in the TM Application Form (Form Kor.01), preventing the generation of Office Actions and Certificate of Registrations.
  • New process: The system will now issue a warning message if such an image is uploaded. Applicants must ensure their marks are submitted in acceptable file formats.
  1. System Integration with Government Apps

The Trademark E-Filing System has been upgraded to connect seamlessly with other government applications, streamlining post-registration filings.

  • Affected forms include:
    • 05 – Recordal of licence agreements
    • 06 – Amendments to registration details
    • 08 – Requests for cancellation of registration
  • Verification changes: Digital signing via CA certificate has been discontinued. Instead, the system now uses a timestamp, together with an additional cover sheet containing a QR code for document verification.
  • Mobile accessibility: All forms have been redesigned to be responsive and mobile-friendly, allowing filing through smartphones and tablets.
  • User convenience: Submissions can now be confirmed without re-entering a password, further simplifying the process.

Conclusion

These Trademark E-Filing System Updates reflect Thailand’s ongoing digital transformation of IP administration, designed to improve reliability, security, and convenience for both applicants and practitioners.
