As Director, she is in charge of all the international affairs undertaken by the business. She oversees operations in Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Brunei.
As an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) for several years, Gladys has worked with the Membership Committee, Meetings Committee, Planning Committee and Speaker and Training Sub-Committee, acting as Chairperson and Speaker at INTA-organised events and panel discussions, as moderator at breakfast meetings and lunch break-out sessions (table topic). She is currently a member of the Law and Practice Asia-Pacific Subcommittee of the INTA Bulletin Committee, and for several years, served as Asian Contributor for INTA’s Trademark Cancellations: International Practice and Procedures Guide.
In recognition of her exceptional expertise, she has been invited to be a special guest speaker at various international IP events, including those held by Shanghai International Symposium, the Customs Intellectual Property Information Center (CIPIC) and the Institute of Trademark and Patent Attorneys of Australia (IPTA).
Gladys has written numerous articles and publications and works closely with editors at various specialist IP publications. Gladys’ publication credits include contributions to Intellectual Property Protection in Asia (edited by Arthur Wineburg), Trade Secrets Throughout the World (Thomson Reuters 2016-17 edition, edited by Melvin Jager) and Managing Intellectual Property’s Patent & Design Yearbook, Trademark Yearbook and IP Litigation Yearbook. For several years, she contributed to the international briefings column for Managing Intellectual Property and contributed regularly to Mondaq Business Monitor and ILO. Gladys is on the advisory board for BNA’s World Intellectual Property Report for Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and India. She is a regular contributor to Asia IP and a guest writer for the publications of ITMA, CIPA and AIPLA. She has also contributed to LexisNexis’ IP Protection in Asia Chapter on India’s IP regime.
Gladys is just as active in her spare time as she is at work! She enjoys a wide range of energetic and creative pursuits, including dancing, kick-boxing and outdoor landscaping. As a keen runner, she previously took part in (and won!) two INTA 5 km races in Toronto and San Diego.
