Born in Bogo on the island of Cebu in the Philippines, Rudina Ann Pescante graduated Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City. Whilst studying there, she was the proud recipient of the Bank of the Philippine Islands Science Award for her academic excellence and research and ranked top ten in the Chemists’ Licensure Examination, being commended by former Philippines Chief Justice Marcelo Fernan for her academic excellence. She is a licensed chemist in the Philippines.

Before she launched her career in IP, she worked as an Quality Control Analyst, Computer Analyst and Management Trainee across a range of industries. She then joined a local law firm in the Philippines, where she first worked as a patent agent, conducting technical analysis in support of patent cancellation and infringement actions.

In joining Mirandah Asiashe now undertakes work in patent prosecution and analysis, as well as preparing responses to Registry Office actions and conducting legal status and prior art searches in respect of a wide range of ASEAN jurisdictions. Furthermore, she provides opinion with regard to patentability, validity, potential for infringement and freedom-to-operate (FTO) for her clients’ matters.

She passed the Philippine Patent Agents Qualifying Examination (organised by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and the European Patent Office), and has attended many patent training courses conducted by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) and the Japan Patent Office (JPO).

She is a member the Philippines Association of Certified Patent Agents and of Integrated Chemists of the Phillipines.
